Why is down missing from my sleeping bag after washing?

Although it says our sleeping bags are machine washable, we do not recommend this cleaning method. When a person washes their sleeping bag, there will always be some collateral damage to the sleeping bag. A small percentage of the down migrates and sometimes down will bunch or clump together. This may seem like the sleeping bag has lost some of its down in certain baffles but this is just the down bunching together. Always lay flat to dry first. This may take up to 5 days to fully dry out. If the down still seems uneven in the sleeping bag, put in the dryer with no heat with a couple of tennis balls. You can also shake the sleeping bag out and fluff out the down by hitting the sleeping bag with a tennis racket.

To decrease this from happening, you can spot clean your sleeping bag or soak it in a bathtub, squeeze the water out, and lay out to dry.
